LEPAK: P-Hailing Riders Communal Hub

LEPAK
Communal Hub for P-Hailing Riders

Project Brief:

The title “Lepak ” originates from Malay word berlepah-lepah, is commonly used in Malaysia when casually hanging out with friends, loiter about and do absolutely nothing. Otherwise also meant chilling out. The aim of this project is to design a communal hub catered for P-Hailing drivers providing a shelter and pitstop amidst the area of the site which is located at Kampung Bharu, where they can recharge themselves fully. Kampung Bharu is known for as it stands out among the surrounding of high-rises and urban building. Therefore the concept is lead by the site identity to incorporate the Malaysian identity in the design style, where colours are also a strong factor by using colours from the national flag, which is a point that best represents the style. It is to create a pace that is able to bring sense of belonging with the strong traits but developing the urban kampung' look.

Malaysia as a multicultural country with a diversity of people that holds big meaning in showcasing these characteristics and how these cultures can mix with each other. The site locating in Kampung Bar shows strong identity of Malaysian culture no matter from the architecture or happenings, it is something to showcase towards the world but also a nostalgia for us.
